Communication

Nursery projectMainstream Schools

What do we do?

We work with the school and other professionals. We try to address the communication difficulties of any child according to need.

We aim to increase the confidence and techniques of school staff to enable them to support and improve children’s communication; such that all children can achieve their potential in learning and social /emotional development.

Symbol UK is able to tailor a service to meet the needs of your staff team and pupils. We will work with you to decide on the best ways to meet your requirements, ascertain the most appropriate service model and work within your allocated budget.

Who is the service for?

Any school staff or professional requiring support or advice, and all children according to their language and communication needs.

Children do not need to be statemented and can be seen at any age.

How do we do it?

The service is aimed at a whole school or whole setting approach to all aspects of communication, therefore, we try to tailor what we provide to the particular needs of that environment and its children.

A Speech Language Therapist and/or Speech Language Therapy Assistant will work collaboratively with school staff and other professionals on a universal, targeted and specialist basis. We visit according to need, to provide a range of services including:

  • discussion and advice
  • assessment [which may include class observation, discussion with class teacher, TA, parents , specialist teacher, educational psychologist and any other relevant persons or agencies]
  • individual language and communication programmes
