Services to Adults with a Learning Disability

The focus of services for adults with learning disabilities has changed in recent years, ie with the move from institutional to independent living. This presents us with the opportunity and challenge of meeting individual needs, often not only for our clients, but for care staff too. Our aim is to create opportunities whatever our client’s age, to enhance their quality of life and to raise expectations of personal achievement.

Whether our clients are 19 or 90, we believe we can and should provide them with real choices and self-expression through development of their social interaction and functional communication skills.
Our emphasis is upon ongoing intervention, strategy development, training and multi disciplinary working, to facilitate awareness of need and to provide carers with the skills to ensure that each individual client maximises their full potential.

As well as providing speech and language therapy services, our team are committed to respond to new and emerging needs of our client group.  Whether it is supporting clients as vulnerable adults in proceedings or endorsing statutory service reviews.

Our current adult services include:

North West Kent College
We provide services across the two sites at Gravesend and Dartford to all students in Foundation Studies.
